The Castle

No one can enter
My castle.
They may bring their
Battering rams
And try to break down
The gate.
But the gate does
Not crumble.
I watch above from
My tower
Eagerly awaiting, yearning for
That moment
When the walls
Are stripped.
But that moment
Never comes.
The walls may crack
But never
Has it fallen.
The moat
May seep through
The cracks.
But it still stands
Protecting me
From that which I want
To embrace.
My walls live on as
I die
Inside them alone
Wanting  escape
But never able to fly from
My window
Never able to open
My gates.
Why can't anybody enter?
Why must
I remain here alone?
Protected, trapped
Behind these walls.
The world
Cannot enter but I
Cannot leave.
